Palm House Gems
Natural Colombian emeralds · Set by hand in Montréal
A gemmologist chooses every natural Colombian emerald. Jewellers in Montréal set each one by hand in 18k gold. Our first collection arrives in 2027.
We write only when there is something to show you: the first collection, events and news.
Palm House Gems builds each piece around its stone. Our first line sets natural Colombian emeralds in collets of 18k yellow gold.
A collet is a closed cup of gold that holds the stone by its whole edge. Collet necklaces were a major form of jewellery in Britain in the Georgian era (1714 to 1830). We will sell directly, online and by private appointment.
Two emeralds of the same green can differ greatly in quality. Many are filled with oil or resin, which makes their fissures harder to see. Sellers do not always say so.
Our founder met this problem in Colombia, her home country. She tried to choose an emerald and could not tell what she was offered. She trained as a gemmologist to find out. Each stone we sell will come with a signed record of what she found.
Each rule protects the stone, or your trust in it.
Collectors who already own the classics and now add colour. They know their own style, and they want to know exactly what they are buying.
Collectors who build with intent: fewer pieces, natural stones, 18k gold. They want jewellery to wear every day and keep for life.
